Chamonix, a lively Alpine town surrounded by magnificent landscapes, is only a 70-minute drive from Geneva. The Chamonix Valley spans from Servoz to the Swiss border at Barberini. Les Houches, Les Bossons, Chamonix, Les Praz, Argentiere, Montroc / Le Tour, and Vallorcine are the principal towns working up the Valley from Servoz.

It was one of the world’s original ski resorts, and it even hosted the inaugural Winter Olympics in 1924. The town is a major worldwide hub, famous not just for being the home of Mont Blanc, but also for its skiing and year-round alpine sports.

The Chamonix Valley, like other alpine regions, has lots of weather to offer! The west brings mild, moist air, the north brings chilly Arctic air, the east brings dry continental air that is hot in summer and frigid in winter, and the south brings Mediterranean air.

With its high elevation in the Alps, Chamonix advantages from a long winter season running from December to May and has an exceptional snow record. During the summer, the valley is often hot and sunny, but further up in the mountains it is refreshingly cool.

Chamonix has a permanent population of over 10,000 people and, as a result, unlike other mountainous resorts in France, there is enough to do in both the summer and winter seasons. The town has several restaurants, bars, cafés, and stores, as well as a sports complex with indoor and outdoor pools with slides in summer, an ice rink, and a theater that shows films in both English and French.

Chamonix also offers a variety of attractions, including the Aiguille du Midi and the Mer de Glace, as well as the ski resorts of Brévent and Planards. The Chamonix valley is located in the heart of the French Alps, at the foot of Mont Blanc, and has glaciers and stunning vistas of the snow-capped mountains all over.

While Chamonix is well-known for its skiing and boarding in the winter, you might be surprised to learn that it is also popular in the summer, with strolling, trekking, rock climbing, paragliding, water rafting, mountain bike paths, and even an 18-hole golf course! Not to mention big sporting events like the Mont Blanc Marathon and the Mont Blanc Ultra Trail.

Chamonix is one of France’s most famous tourist destinations, because of its magnificent landscape and many summer and winter sports.

Traditional Savoyard recipes used to be made with locally produced and readily available items like potatoes, cheese, and dried meats are always available for dining.

Chamonix retains these traditions and you may enjoy wonderful fondues, raclettes, tartiflette, reblochonnades, and other grilled cheese dishes.

The legendary falcon, cooked with grated potatoes, bacon, prunes, raisins, eggs, and milk, should not be overlooked.

This Michelin-starred restaurant is located in the heart of Chamonix. With wonderfully cooked meals, pleasant employees, and great service, the restaurant provides one of the best dining experiences in the Chamonix Valley.

From 2014 until 2018, Head Chef Damien Leveau was the second chef to Pierre Maillet, who managed the kitchen of this award-winning restaurant preceding him.

He is carrying on the Michelin-starred restaurant’s heritage of excellence. The restaurant serves delicate, uncomplicated, modern food influenced by the surrounding area.

You may order from the a la carte menu or from their La Maison de Savoie dinner menu, which consists of 9 courses. The food alters with the seasons and is centered on fresh local products, with many vegetables and herbs grown in their kitchen gardens.

The wine vault has almost 20,000 bottles from the 950 appellations featured on the wine list.

Because the wine cellar was built to allow certain wines to be held for a few years before reaching the requisite maturity, all of the wines are available for immediate consumption.

The restaurant’s sommelier will be available to assist you and your gorgeous date in selecting an appropriate wine to accompany your dinner from the restaurant’s vast wine selection.
